The Heart being only between 7 and 15 ounces, is a little larger than your fist. It is located between the Lungs and the middle of the Chest, slightly left of the Breastbone.
The Heart consists of 4 Chambers. These are the Left and Right Atria, which are both Upper Chambers and the Left and Right Ventricles, which are both the Lower Chambers. The Septum Muscle separates the Upper Chambers from the Lower Chambers. The Left Ventricle is the strongest and largest chamber of them all.
The Heart also has four Valves that regulate blood flow through the Heart. - The Tricuspid Valve is in control of the flow between the Right Atrium and Right Ventricle. - The Pulmonary Valve regulates blood from the Right Ventricle in to the Pulmonary Arteries. It is then carried to the Lungs to retrieve Oxygen. - The Mitral Valve allows Oxygen from the Lungs to pass to the Left Atrium into the Left Ventricle. - The Aortic Valve opens to let the Oxygen pass from the Left Ventricle into the Aorta, which is the largest Artery.
